That’s the thing about this stage of life, everyone’s pretending to have it together, and almost no one does. I’ve met people who post about wellness, who do gratitude journals and early morning Pilates, and then spend the rest of the day making everyone around them feel small. And I have met people who fail their modules, live off vodka cranberries, and would still give you the last of their chips if you looked sad enough.

It’s funny how often the world gets it wrong.

I think about nights in student kitchens, when the walls reek of cheap spirits and someone’s passed out on the sofa. The kind of nights that feel messy and meaningless until someone admits they’re scared of the future, and suddenly everyone’s honest for once. That’s when I see it - the good in people who don’t look “good.” The ones who are honest about how lost they are, who apologise when they mess up, who still show up even when they’re exhausted.

They’re the people who will walk you home when your phone’s dead. Who will lend you a lighter and tell you their life story like it’s no big deal. Who will listen to your rambling about boys and breakdowns and existential crises without pretending to know the answers.
